Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

Location: Ottumwa, Iowa
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
Call Requirements: None

Unit and Patient Population

Specialty: Labor & Delivery (L&D)
Patient Ratios:
- Active labor: 1:1
- Couplet care: 3:1
Equipment used: Intermediate fetal monitoring, Philips Tracevue
Electronic Health Record (EHR) system: Meditech
Float Requirements: Must be able to float to other hospital units as needed

Required Certifications

BLS (Basic Life Support)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
STABLE certification

Required Licensure

Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Iowa

Experience Requirements

Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience within the last year

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

Must have Iowa SING background check clearance (criminal and child abuse portions required) – no exceptions
All background checks (county and state) must be fully cleared prior to start; instant or statewide searches are not accepted
Mandatory reporter certification for child and adult required
Drug test: 10-panel screening including opiates
Immunization titers within the last 12 months required for MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and TB
Start days allowed: Monday or Tuesday

Float to other units within the hospital as needed

Requirements/Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience within the last year
Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, STABLE
AWHONN membership or certification preferred
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
