Job Opportunity: PreOp/PACU Registered Nurse
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift with rotating shifts between early opener (5:00 AM - 5:30 PM) and later opener (8:00 AM - 8:30 PM)
- Call: Includes call responsibilities every 3rd to 4th weekend
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Unit Focus:
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG)
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) repair
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
- Femoral-Popliteal/Femoral-Tibial-Peroneal Bypass
- Angiogram
- Pulmonary decortication
- Ablation
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of PreOp / PACU - Post Anesthesia Care nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Licensure
- Must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Ohio
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and state fingerprinting
- Monthly monitoring through federal exclusion lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG)
- Verification of nursing education from an accredited program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease
- Immunizations and health documentation required:
- Tdap vaccine (adult dose)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- Drug testing and immunization requirements apply to clinical staff; remote workers may have exceptions
Competency and Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start
- Unit-specific competency exams required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (with remediation process if needed)
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgement annually
- NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment (check with recruiter)
References and Documentation
- Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership role
- Employment application and skills checklist required
Additional Notes
- Call schedule includes every 3rd to 4th weekend
- Fingerprinting must be completed using specific state codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service over 90 days
- Background check and fingerprinting results must be clear prior to start; pending results require attestation
- Candidates must review and sign dress code and hand hygiene policies
- Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
- Candidates must comply with ethics and compliance policies annually
