Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – ER Holding
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Patient Population
- Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
Staffing Ratio
- 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (may be required depending on unit)

Required Exams and Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
- Unit-Specific Competency Exam
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required within 1 year of start and updated annually)
Background and Screening Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including FBI and state fingerprinting (Ohio BCI & FBI) required within 90 days of start
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending results allowed)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year of start; TB questionnaire required annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters required if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption allowed with documentation
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Facility-Specific Requirements
- Annual acknowledgment of dress code and hand hygiene policy
- Annual completion of fraud, waste, and abuse training
- Annual review and acknowledgment of ethics and compliance policies
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
- Telemetry experience and Telemetry & Dysrhythmia Management skills
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program
- Proficiency in IV Insulin & Heparin Protocols
- Experience managing Renal Failure
- Skilled in Cardiac & Vasoactive Drips administration and titration
- Tracheostomy Management experience
- Utilization of Rapid Response Team protocols

- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
- License verification must be completed within 30 days of start.
- Fingerprinting must be completed using specific state codes and within one year of start; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service over 90 days.
- Some certifications may be renewed onsite.
- Candidates must complete all required competency exams and certifications prior to or shortly after start as specified.
