Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Cath Lab

Location: Bloomington, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with Cardiac Cath Lab experience to work in a cardiac catheterization department. The role involves caring for patients undergoing various cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures.

Key Details

• Department: Cardiac Cath Lab
• Labs/Suites: 2 labs, 6 pre/post procedure beds
• Average Cases per Day: 3 caths and 2 angiograms
• Shift: 8-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
• Call Requirements:

  • On call 2-3 weeknights per week
  • On call every 3rd weekend
  • On call 2 holidays per year
• Orientation: Approximately 1 week (4 shifts)
• Floating: Rarely required; no patient assignments when floating
• Dress Code: Hospital scrubs provided

Patient Types / Common Diagnoses

• STEMI (ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction)
• Stroke
• Drain and line placements
• All types of heart catheterizations
• Peripheral angiograms
• IVC (Inferior Vena Cava) filter placement
• Temporary pacemaker insertion

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Experience & Skills Required

• Previous cardiac cath lab experience is a must
• Ability to read telemetry strips and titrate drips
• Knowledge of IV medications commonly used in the cath lab
• Preferred experience with peripheral angiograms, interventional radiology (IR), and neuro interventions

Technology & Equipment

• EMR system: Epic
• Monitoring equipment: Philips

Team Structure

• Charge nurse present on each shift (may take patient assignments)
• Cath Lab Technicians available

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois nursing license or proof that application process has been initiated
• Must comply with drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen

Additional Notes

• Local clinicians within 50 miles may have specific rate considerations
• Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours
• Call off policy allows 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty
