Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Night Shift (7:00 pm - 7:30 am)
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • Minimum 18 months of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including at least 1.5 years in the ED and experience within the last year
  • Minimum 18 months of total travel nursing experience
  • Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Orientation & Testing

  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication exam required during orientation with passing scores
  • Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) required for all bedside RNs (except OR RNs)
  • Prep materials provided before first attempt; remediation and retake opportunities available

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required (must carry while on assignment)
  • Background check including FCRA-compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required and must be current
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing and updated annually
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months and updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history positive
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccination series or declination accepted with agency-approved exemption
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required annually (no declinations accepted; exemptions require agency approval)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start

Documentation & History

  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years clinical practice in acute care and similar area
  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Skills checklist required annually

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete required online training modules prior to start; modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete all onboarding and competency requirements before clearance to start
  • Candidates with gaps in employment greater than 6 months may need to repeat orientation and modules
  • Candidates must use legal name on all documentation and onboarding systems
  • Must be willing to work at least every other holiday during assignment

This position is ideal for experienced ER Registered Nurses licensed in Ohio or compact states, who meet the certification and compliance requirements and are ready for a 13-week travel contract on the night shift.
