Job Opportunity: RN CVICU
Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (approximately 13 weeks)
Job Description
Seeking highly motivated critical care Registered Nurses who thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity critical care environment. The unit cares for some of the most critically ill patients, primarily focusing on cardiothoracic surgery (open heart recovery) and neuro/neurosurgery. The team also provides ICU-level care for COVID-19 patients, including those requiring ECMO support.
Unit Details:
- Unit Capacity: 15 beds
- Patient Population: Cardiac Surgery, Cardiac Transplant, Myocardial Infarction, Congestive Heart Failure, Cardiogenic Shock, Cardiomyopathy, Arrhythmias, Post Cardiopulmonary Arrest, Post Ventricular Assist Device Placement
- Patient Age Range: Adolescents through late adults (14 - 60+)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: Typically 1:2
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum of 2 years of CVICU experience
- CVICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Requirements and Onboarding Credentials
- Verification of current nursing license and primary source verification within 30 days prior to assignment start
- Completion of health screenings and immunizations including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer)
- Varicella (two vaccines or immunity evidence)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years)
- Influenza vaccine (seasonal, exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series or signed declination
- Tuberculosis screening (2-step PPD or IGRA with follow-up as needed)
- Drug screening (12-panel) within 30 days prior to start and annually thereafter
- Fit testing for respiratory protection (annual update required)
- Completion of unit-specific competencies and skills checklists annually
- Background checks including criminal history and employment verification
- Submission of professional references (minimum two)
- Completion of required onboarding education and competency attestations
Work Environment
- High-acuity critical care unit with a focus on cardiac and neurological patients
- Fast-paced setting requiring strong clinical skills and ability to manage complex patient care
- Collaborative team environment with Registered Nurses and Patient Care Technicians
