Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
Location: Sanford, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department. This role involves providing emergency nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The unit includes telemetry, behavioral health, and fast track rooms with a patient ratio of 1:5.
Unit Information
- Department: Emergency Department
- Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
- Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
- Weekend Hours: Every other weekend and some holidays
- Call Requirements: None
- Number of Beds: 21 (12 telemetry, 3 behavioral health, 5 fast track)
- Patient Population: All ages
- Patient Ratios: 1:5
- Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner
- Equipment: Emergency equipment
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- De-escalation training such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Managing Aggressive Behavior (MAB), Healthcare Worker Crisis Intervention (HWC), or equivalent
- Trauma nursing experience
Work Environment & Culture
- Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
- Team-oriented
- Dress Code: Scrubs of any color; no open-toed footwear, spandex pants, or sweatshirts
Common Diagnoses/Treatments
- COPD
- Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
- Sepsis
- Cardiac emergencies
- Neurological emergencies including stroke
Additional Notes
- Float to other units as needed
- Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
- Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
