Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

Location: Sanford, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department. This role involves providing emergency nursing care to patients of all ages in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The unit includes telemetry, behavioral health, and fast track rooms with a patient ratio of 1:5.

Unit Information

Department: Emergency Department
Shift: 7 PM – 7 AM
Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
Weekend Hours: Every other weekend and some holidays
Call Requirements: None
Number of Beds: 21 (12 telemetry, 3 behavioral health, 5 fast track)
Patient Population: All ages
Patient Ratios: 1:5
Electronic Health Record (EHR): Cerner
Equipment: Emergency equipment

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year
Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- De-escalation training such as Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), Managing Aggressive Behavior (MAB), Healthcare Worker Crisis Intervention (HWC), or equivalent
Trauma nursing experience

Fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
Team-oriented
Dress Code: Scrubs of any color; no open-toed footwear, spandex pants, or sweatshirts

Common Diagnoses/Treatments

COPD
Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
Sepsis
Cardiac emergencies
Neurological emergencies including stroke

Additional Notes

Float to other units as needed
Orientation occurs weekly on Mondays
Candidates must be located 60 miles or more from the facility to qualify as travel staff
