Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work shifts include 2 eight-hour shifts and 2 twelve-hour shifts, generally between 6:30 AM and 11:00 PM, with call responsibilities.
  • Shift hours will be scheduled based on facility needs; flexibility is required.
  • Call expectations vary by shift:
    • Day shift: 30-40 hours of call per 4-week period
    • Evening shift: Weekend call required, approximately 24 hours per 4-week period
    • Night shift: Minimal weekend call

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
  • Minimum 1 year of Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) experience within the last year
  • Experience in transplant nursing
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • General Operating Room nursing skills
  • Thoracic nursing skills
  • Vascular nursing skills
  • Transplant nursing skills

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in cardiac, vascular, and transplant nursing
  • At least 1 year of CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience
  • At least 1 year experience working in a Level I Trauma facility

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Experience with EPIC charting system is required

Required Skills and Competencies

  • General Operating Room nursing
  • Cardiovascular, Thoracic, Vascular, and Transplant nursing skills
  • Completion of unit-specific competency exams, including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year of start (annual renewal required)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start

License Requirements

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check including FBI and state fingerprinting (BCI/FBI) required prior to start
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
  • Monthly monitoring through workforce screening programs (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Tdap vaccine (adult dose)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
  • Annual review and acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies

References and Documentation

  • Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership role
  • Employment application and skills checklist required
