Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Schedule

• 3 shifts per week
• 12-hour night shifts
• May float to units with similar acuity

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience
• IV start skills and labor & delivery (L&D) experience
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
• BLS and IV certification required

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous travel nursing experience preferred (not required)

Required Licenses & Certifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA provider/instructor or RQI accepted)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required for L&D, Postpartum, and OB units
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) required for ER and related units
• NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit (must be obtained within 1 year of start and renewed every 2 years)

Competency Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required prior to start)
• Unit-specific competency exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (exceptions apply for some units and remote positions)

Background & Screening Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed prior to start)
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
• Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
• Required immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tdap (adult dose)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption allowed with documentation)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
• Employment application and skills checklist required
• Annual acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, compliance, and safety policies
• Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually

Requirements / Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of postpartum nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Labor and Delivery experience
• Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
• IV start skills
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification

Notes

• Fingerprinting must be completed using specific state codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service over 90 days or results are older than 1 year
• Candidates may be required to complete remediation if competency exams are failed
• Parking options available but at candidate’s expense

This position is ideal for experienced postpartum RNs with labor and delivery skills looking for a travel contract opportunity in Ohio. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
