Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3x12 hour day shifts (06:30 AM - 07:00 PM)
Weekend Requirement: 2-3 weekends per contract
On-Call: Yes, rotating call as needed with staff and agency

Job Summary

Seeking a Cath Lab Tech with experience in Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiac Cath labs. This role requires hands-on procedural skills and the ability to work in a Level I trauma acute care hospital setting.

Required Experience & Skills

Minimum 1 year of experience in Cath Lab
First-time travel Cath Lab Techs accepted
Required procedural skills include:
- Cardiac Implant Closure Device
- Cardiac Stent Placement
- Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)
- IABP Placement/Removal
- Interpretation of dysrhythmias
- Left and Right heart catheterization
- Percutaneous Coronary Interventions (PCI)
- Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA)
- Rotablader athrectomy
- Scrub procedures
Equipment setup and recognition of life-threatening arrhythmias
Infection control skills: Isolation precautions and sterile technique
Age-specific competencies: Middle and Older Adult patients
Experience with Cerner electronic charting system required

Certifications & Licenses Required

Active state license (no pending licenses accepted)
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)

Work Environment & Additional Details

No IR (Interventional Radiology) duties
No floating outside scope of practice
Locals accepted with no radius restrictions
Call frequency flexible and coordinated with manager
Scrub color and parking permit provided (no cost for parking)
Must be able to work within Return to Office restrictions (ideally no more than 5 days off)
Guaranteed hours with some allowance for client call-offs

Required Documentation & Compliance

Valid US Driver’s License or State ID
Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
Primary source verification of certifications and licenses
Physical exam within one year of start, including labs and immunizations (TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or approved exemption)
Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
Illinois-specific fingerprinting and registry requirements (must be completed in Illinois)
References: 2 professional references required
Competency exam required for clinical candidates
Badge photo required prior to start
Completion of facility-specific documents such as code of conduct and parking permit forms

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
Current ACLS certification
Current BLS certification
ARRT certification
Experience with Cardiac Implant Closure Device
Experience with Cardiac Stent Placement
Experience with Diagnostic Catheterizations (Adult)

Experience with Interpretation of dysrhythmias
