Job Description

Seeking an experienced Physical Therapist for a travel contract in a hospital setting. The role involves working in both inpatient and outpatient environments, with a focus on acute care and orthopedic cases.

Work Settings & Units

• Inpatient and outpatient physical therapy
• Inpatient units include med-surg, telemetry, ICU, with occasional ER and pediatrics
• Outpatient includes orthopedic and some neurological cases
• Home health care assignments available with geographical regions

Typical Patient Diagnoses

• Orthopedics: total joints (knees, hips, shoulders), wound care, lymphedema
• Neurological: stroke, basic neuro patients, TBI
• Pediatrics (preferred for outpatient/home health)
• Med-surg, telemetry, ICU patients in inpatient setting

Shifts & Schedule

• 8-hour shifts
• Inpatient PT shifts start times vary
• Outpatient clinic hours: 6am–7pm
• Weekend shifts: typically 3 per quarter; weekend work negotiable and not mandatory
• Home health shifts mostly Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm, with every 3rd weekend required

Orientation

• Inpatient/outpatient: several shifts of floor-specific orientation
• Home health: 1.5–2 weeks orientation

Uniform

• Outpatient: business casual (collared shirt and nice pants), lab jacket optional
• Inpatient: provided polos required
• Home health: business attire with white lab coat, no jeans

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Physical Therapy experience
• Active California Physical Therapy license
• BLS certification
• Basic acute care experience including total joint replacements
• Outpatient experience with orthopedic and some neuro cases preferred
• Experience with hand therapy preferred for outpatient
• Home health experience preferred but not required; must have experience with OASIS documentation

Additional Notes

• Candidates should ideally have experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, but this is not mandatory
• Flexibility to work in different settings based on need
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
