Job Summary

• Assist radiologists with invasive diagnostic procedures such as needle biopsies, aspirations, and guided needle-wire placement exams for surgery.
• Provide training and standardization to residents on these exams.
• Evaluate contraindications including medications, patient preparation, and patient tolerance.
• Perform ultrasound procedures under general or direct supervision as required.
• Recognize sonographic characteristics of normal and abnormal tissues, structures, and blood flow.
• Analyze sonography findings throughout the exam to ensure comprehensive data collection for physician interpretation.
• Identify abnormalities requiring real-time radiologist observation.
• Capture images and Doppler signals simultaneously, recording data for radiologist interpretation.
• Communicate preliminary diagnostic information to radiologists and referring physicians.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Ultrasound Technologist license in North Carolina
• Minimum 3 years of experience as an Ultrasound Technologist, including experience within the last year
• Completion of a twelve (12) month program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography / General Ultrasound or equivalent certificate program
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification
