Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM), totaling 36 hours per week
• Patient Ratios: Not specified
• May be required to float to other units

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience, with experience within the last year
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system required
• Prior travel experience preferred but not required

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
• NCC C-EFM or AWHONN Advanced certification

Required Licenses

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and state fingerprinting (BCI/FBI)
• Monthly monitoring through federal exclusion lists (EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG)
• Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA)
• Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (no pending tests allowed)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
• Immunizations and health documents required:

  • Tdap (adult dose)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccines or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series (declination acceptable)
  • Varicella vaccines or positive titer (medical exemptions reviewed)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
• COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended

Competency and Testing Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam prior to start
• Unit-specific competency exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 1 year of start and updated annually (exceptions apply)

Additional Requirements

• Two professional references required, including at least one from a manager or formal leadership
• Employment application and skills checklist required
• Annual acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
• Fraud, waste, and abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually

Requirements/Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• NCC C-EFM or AWHONN Advanced certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with EPIC electronic health record system

Notes

• Parking permits available for agency staff (costs and options subject to change)
• Fingerprinting must be completed using specific codes and within required timeframes; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service of 90+ days or results are older than 1 year
• Background check and fingerprinting results with hits require additional documentation and approval process

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery nurses who are comfortable with EPIC, have strong clinical skills in L&D, and meet the comprehensive compliance and credentialing requirements.
