Registered Nurse - NICU
Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform all nursing responsibilities specific to the NICU unit.
- Implement procedures and theories related to neonatal intensive care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
- Complete initial patient assessments and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare team members and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Identify personal learning needs and pursue professional development.
- Monitor intake and output of neonatal patients.
- Assist mothers with breastfeeding initiation and baby-friendly care.
- Administer medications using proper bar code scanning.
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and report on patient assignments.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 3 years of NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience
- NICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
