Occupational Therapist - Acute Therapy

  • Day shift, Monday to Friday
  • 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week

Job Description

  • Evaluate and treat patients of all ages in an acute care setting.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model for staff and students.
  • Perform patient transfers safely with assistance as needed.
  • Use safe body mechanics to prevent injury.
  • Design and adjust individualized plans of care including goals, treatment, outcomes, and discharge plans.
  • Educate patients, families, caregivers, students, and healthcare providers using effective teaching methods.
  • Conduct examinations using reliable and valid methods relevant to patient complaints and history.
  • Screen patients to determine the need and effectiveness of therapy services.
  • Supervise support personnel and provide feedback.
  • Document evaluations, treatment plans, patient responses, and modifications according to policy.
  • Implement functional intervention plans considering patients’ physical and emotional needs.
  • Modify approaches based on patient behavior and performance.
  • Use standardized outcome measures consistently.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and medical teams throughout rehabilitation.
  • Provide supervision to Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) and rehabilitation technicians.
  • Communicate patient status, transfer recommendations, discharge plans, and equipment needs clearly with the medical team.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in Illinois
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Experience working with Pediatric patients
  • Experience working with Neonate patients
  • Experience in an Inpatient setting
