Registered Nurse - Progressive Care Unit
Location: Goldsboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
Essential Duties
- Participate in identifying and meeting own learning needs; attend education programs as needed.
- Use patient education materials relevant to the patient population with assistance.
- Assess patient/family readiness to learn and developmental factors affecting learning.
- Identify expected patient outcomes and participate in revising plans of care as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate patient care and communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
- Demonstrate competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects.
- Perform bedside point of care testing as required.
- Follow healthcare organization and nursing standards, policies, and procedures.
- Organize and prioritize care according to patient and family needs.
- Consult appropriate resources timely for patients with complex care issues or high discharge planning risk.
- Develop professional growth goals and participate in unit goals and performance improvement activities.
- Promote a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.
- Recognize and prioritize patient assessment data, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs.
- Collaborate with patients and families in planning care, addressing cultural and ethnic considerations.
- Stay informed on relevant research and contribute ideas for practice improvement.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience within the last year.
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
