Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: 3rd shift/nights, 3 twelve-hour shifts (either 1830-0700 or 1900-0730)
  • Schedule: Every 3rd weekend, on-call and holidays required
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in Radiology / Cardiology specialty
  • First-time travelers: Accepted
  • On-call: Yes, required as needed
  • Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
  • Local candidates: Accepted, no radius restrictions
  • License: Active Illinois state license required (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Return to Office Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days

  • X-Ray Skills/Experience:

    • Abdomen: decubitus, supine (KUB), upright
    • Chest and Thorax: AP, lateral decubitus, routine, upper airway (soft tissue neck)
    • Head: facial bones, orbits, paranasal sinuses, skull, temporomandibular joints
    • Lower Extremity: ankle, femur, foot, knee, tibia-fibula
    • Mobile/Surgical: C-Arm procedure, portable abdomen, portable chest
    • Spine and Pelvis: cervical spine, hip, lumbar spine, pelvis, sacrum/coccyx, thoracic spine
    • Upper Extremity: clavicle, elbow, forearm, hand, scapula, shoulder, trauma shoulder/humerus (Scapular Y, transthoracic axial), wrist
  • Equipment Experience: O-ARM preferred

  • Preferred Experience: Cerner charting system, Level I Trauma experience


Required Certifications & Licenses

  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Active Illinois state radiologic technologist license

Additional Requirements

  • Background checks and verifications as per state and facility policies
  • Physical exam within one year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within one year
  • Immunizations or documented immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • Competency exam required
  • Professional references (2) required

  • Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center
  • Magnet recognized facility
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Scrub color: Any solid color
  • Parking permit required (no cost)

Notes

  • Candidates must be prepared for on-call duties and holiday shifts.
  • Schedule accommodations may be discussed with management.
  • No floating outside the scope of practice.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Radiology Technologist license in Illinois
  • Radiology Technologist with a minimum of 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Experience working with adult patients
  • Experience in Acute Care and Outpatient settings
  • Experience in Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and Operating Room (OR) settings
  • Proficient in X-Ray procedures including:
    • Abdomen: decubitus, supine (KUB), upright
    • Chest: AP
    • Upper airway (soft tissue neck)
    • Head: facial bones, orbits, paranasal sinuses, skull, temporomandibular joints
    • Lower extremity: foot
    • Portable chest
    • Hip
    • Lumbar spine
    • Forearm
    • Wrist
