Description

Registered Nurse - Medical-Surgical Stepdown

Location: Cincinnati, Ohio
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Unit Description

  • 29-bed medical stepdown unit specializing in care for patients with acute MI, cardiac arrhythmias, cardiomyopathy, CHF, and other low-risk cardiac/chest pain diagnoses.
  • Provides general medical services including cardiology, renal, endocrinology, general medicine, pulmonology, gastroenterology, and oncology.
  • Staff receive special training in non-invasive positive pressure ventilation (Bi-PAP, C-PAP, A-PAP).
  • Provides infusion therapy, transfusions, injections, and central line care.
  • Patient care assistants support with ADLs, point-of-care glucose testing, and 12 Lead EKGs.
  • Dedicated stroke unit; all RNs are NIH stroke scale certified.

Required Qualifications

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Stepdown experience, including experience within the last year.
  • At least 1 year of Stepdown/Telemetry (Tele) experience.

Education

  • Diploma of Nursing required.

Certifications & Licensure

  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association required.
  • ACLS required.
