Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: Weekends required, 3 shifts per weekend, 12 hours each (Day Shift)
- Floating: May be required to float between campuses
- Patient Ratio: Not applicable
- Equipment: GE Ventilators
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification preferred
- High School Diploma and College Diploma or official transcripts required (Respiratory Therapy program)
- 3+ years of experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty (based on job specialty and typical expectations)
- Prior travel experience preferred (not strictly required)
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA provider/instructor or RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider/instructor or RQI acceptable
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Education accreditation verification required for Respiratory Therapy program
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption possible)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership (charge RN acceptable as second reference)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Annual acknowledgment of dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required annually
Notes
- Parking permits are available for agency staff (costs and options vary)
- Facility-specific policies and training may apply
- Fingerprinting and background checks are time-sensitive and must be completed prior to or shortly after start date
- Candidates with breaks in service over 90 days may require new fingerprinting and background checks
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists seeking a travel contract opportunity with weekend shifts and the possibility of floating between campuses. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory. Compliance with all background, health, and certification requirements is essential.
