Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Location: Lincoln, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Shift: 3x12 hour nights (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Unit: 30-bed Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Average Daily Census: 19 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• Floating: May float within skill level if census is low
• Schedule: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
• Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum Specialty Experience: 3 years as a Registered Nurse

• First-time travelers: Accepted

• Specialty Experience:

  • Medical-Surgical and Telemetry experience required
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills including:

    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • Telemetry monitoring on the unit
    • Use of Rapid Response Teams
  • Endocrine/Metabolic skills:

    • IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
    • Feeding tube care and management
    • Experience with renal failure patients
  • IV therapy/phlebotomy skills:

    • Accessing ports
    • Blood product administration
    • Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
    • Starting IVs
  • Medication skills:

    • Heparin protocols
    • Titration of vasoactive drips
  • Neurological/Psychiatric case skills:

    • Care of CVA patients
  • Orthopedic experience:

    • Total joint replacements
  • Respiratory skills:

    • External CPAP/BIPAP
    • High flow nasal cannula (HFNC)
    • Nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
    • Non-invasive airway management
    • Tracheostomy management
  • Professional skills:

    • Isolation precautions
    • Wound care and wound vac management

• Preferred: Community hospital experience

Required Certifications & Licenses

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand to apply
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred

Additional Information

• On-call: Not required
• Guaranteed Hours: Client may cancel up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay obligation
• Parking: Permit required, no cost

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• Primary source verification of certifications and licenses
• Physical exam within one year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
• Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within one year
• Immunizations or proof of immunity for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• References: 2 professional references required
• Competency exam and skills checklist required for clinical candidates

Notes

• Candidates must discuss time off requests with the manager
• Candidates may be required to complete a badge photo and sign facility-specific documents such as code of conduct and parking permit forms
• Fingerprinting must be completed in Illinois for clinical candidates without an IL state license
• Candidates must be able to perform core functions of the position without restrictions
