Registered Nurse - Med Surg Telemetry

Location: Wilson, North Carolina

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Telemetry unit with a focus on Med Surg overflow. The position offers 7 AM or 7 PM shifts with a guaranteed 36 hours per week and weekend hours every other or every third weekend. No call requirements.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 22
• Patient Ratios: 5:1 or 6:1
• Patient Population: Adult and Geriatric
• Equipment: Welch Allyn V/S machine, Hoyer Lift with weight scale, Abbott Glucometer, Computers on Wheels, TR band, Baxter IV pumps
• Electronic Health Record: Meditech EMR

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Skills and Experience

• Must have: EKG interpretation and critical thinking skills
• Preferred: Experience managing discharges and admissions, basic cardiac drip knowledge
• Common Diagnoses/Treatments: CHF, chest pain, acute renal failure, COPD, uncontrolled diabetes, chronic kidney disease, post cardiac catheterization care

Additional Notes

• Orientation is bi-weekly
• Meditech experience preferred
• Weekend hours approximately 12 hours every other or every third weekend
• No call required
