Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks


Job Description

  • Part-time position requiring 24 hours per week, working Saturdays and Sundays only.
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
  • Provide safe, age-appropriate patient care as part of the patient care team.
  • Serve as an advisor and resource for patients and their families.
  • Must be proficient in Surgical Services including Trauma, ENT, Colorectal, Plastics, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Oral/Dental, Laparoscopic Procedures, Urology, Ophthalmology, GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedic, Robotics, Vascular, Thoracic, and General Surgery.

Required Certifications & Training

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
  • 16-hour Maryland approved trauma course required.
  • 8-hour annual trauma CEUs required.
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, CPI certifications may be required as applicable.
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) and Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required as applicable.
  • NIH Stroke Certification and Stroke CEUs may be required.
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start.
  • Other immunizations: MMR (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella as per requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
  • Minimum of 1 year trauma experience, including trauma experience within the last year.
  • Proficiency and experience in the following surgical specialties: ENT, Colorectal, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, Oral/Dental, Laparoscopic Procedures, Urology, Ophthalmology, GYN, Orthopedic Surgery, Robotics, Vascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, and General Surgery.
  • Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association: ACLS, BLS, and PALS.
  • Additional certifications: NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, STABLE, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Ability to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
  • Education verification and primary source license verification required.
  • Competency exams and unit-specific skills checklist as applicable.

Additional Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Completion of facility-specific policies including hand hygiene, floating, and time and attendance.
  • Compliance with all background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG.
  • References and employment verification required.
  • Completion of required facility-specific documents prior to start.
  • Respirator fit testing will be completed onsite if applicable.

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
  • This is a part-time travel contract position focused on weekend coverage.
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete all required certifications and compliance documents prior to start.
  • Trauma and stroke CEUs must be maintained annually.
  • Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced operating room environment with diverse surgical specialties.
