Registered Nurse - MICU (Columbus, Ohio) - Travel/Contract

Job Summary

Specialty: Registered Nurse

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour day/night rotating shifts (may include days, nights, or combination based on staffing needs; shift assignments reviewed every 4 weeks but not guaranteed)
Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers not accepted)

Common patient conditions include:

Oncologic emergencies
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Pneumonia
Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS)
Gastrointestinal bleed
Neuromuscular disease
Drug overdose
Consequences of oncologic treatment
Pulmonary hypertension
Autoimmune disorders
Sepsis

Care for hemodynamically compromised patients
Mechanical ventilation
Pulmonary artery catheter placement
Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
Arterial pressure monitoring
Cardiac monitoring
Chest tubes
Central venous catheters
Chemotherapy administration
Complex medication regimens
Clinical trials participation
Plasmapheresis
Bronchoscopy and endoscopy for pulmonary and gastrointestinal conditions

Required Certifications

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
BLS (Basic Life Support)
NIH Stroke Certification

Required Skills

Ventilator management
IV starts

Computerized Charting

EPIC system experience required

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) or ICU, with at least some experience within the last year
Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment
Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Experience managing ventilated patients
Proficiency with EPIC electronic health record system
