Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse

Location: Battle Creek, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work primarily on a 10-bed Observation Unit (ER Overflow) with patient ratios of 1:6 at night and 1:5 during the day.
  • Focus on constant reassessment of patient readiness for discharge; rapid admission and discharge expected.
  • Floating to other Medical-Surgical units approximately once per week, depending on need.
  • Weekend work required every other weekend.
  • Medical-Surgical units have a mix of medical patients with staffing ratios typically 1:5-6 at night; may flex to 1:8 with LPN support.
  • Must be willing to collaborate with a variety of staff including RNs, LPNs, and Techs.
  • Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed or approved at this time.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN), with experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics or American Medical Learning Center.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
  • Chemotherapy (CHEMO) certification.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
  • Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement completed.
