Location: St George, Utah

Contract Length: Approximately 15 weeks

Job Summary

• Ensure proper patient identification and order verification; prepare patients for MRI exams.
• Perform MRI examinations according to department protocols.
• Demonstrate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and anatomical positioning.
• Critique own films and complete studies within acceptable timeframes without compromising patient care or exam quality.
• Collaborate with radiologists to select appropriate scanning techniques and protocols.
• Administer intravenous contrast material under physician or radiologist supervision as ordered.
• Practice infection control and sterile techniques.
• Operate MRI equipment and related information systems to produce quality images.
• View, transfer, archive, and manipulate images proficiently.
• Troubleshoot MRI scanner issues and understand shutdown/startup procedures.
• Understand MRI magnet components, cryogens, gradient amplifiers, and relevant hardware/software.
• Know the Quench procedure and MRI safety policies, including the FOUR ZONE concept.
• Complete all required documentation accurately, including time stamps and image storage.
• Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, consents, quality documentation, QC programs, and equipment failure reporting.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist.
• Post-hire expectations (where applicable):

  • Achieve departmental IV certification competency within 3 months.
  • Complete controlled substance module within 6 months.
  • Complete initial moderate sedation module within 6 months.
• Physical requirements include hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, seeing, and standing.
