Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Chesapeake, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Work schedule includes 3x12 or 4x12 night shifts, weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays.
• Must be credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
• Must hold a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license for the Commonwealth of Virginia (no exceptions).
• Experience operating ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP machines, oxygen and aerosol delivery devices, blood gas machines, pulmonary function equipment, pulse oximetry, EtCO2 devices, and related respiratory therapy equipment.
• Required skills: ventilators, arterial blood gases (ABG), nebulizer & metered-dose inhaler (MDI) treatments, BiPAP, oxygen therapy including high-flow oxygen.
• EPIC charting experience is required.
• Previous experience as a Respiratory Therapy Technician is preferred.
• BLS certification required; ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications preferred (BLS and ACLS must be American Heart Association (AHA) certified).
• Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) candidates will be considered.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapy Technician
• Previous experience as a Respiratory Therapy Technician
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record system

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Must have a clean background with no license or criminal history hits.
• 7-year criminal background check required within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Government-issued photo ID required during hours of service.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually.
• Fit test for N95 mask within 1 year, updated annually (PAPR not allowed).
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual updates.
• Required immunizations or titers within 10 years: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Tdap vaccine required for certain units (not applicable here but good to note).
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required or approved exemption.
• COVID-19 vaccination preferred but not required.
• Proof of 2 professional references.
• Completion of skills checklist annually.
• Completion of required competency exams and medication tests as applicable.
• Various facility-specific acknowledgments and forms required prior to start.

Additional Notes

• Fingerprinting via Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check required within the first week of contract start.
• Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and certifications timely to avoid delays or cancellation.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
