Registered Nurse - Critical Care Unit (CCU)

Location: Urbana, Illinois
Employment Type: Clinical Nursing
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Perform all nursing responsibilities specific to the Critical Care Unit.
  • Implement procedures and theories related to critical care nursing.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
  • Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
  • Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
  • Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in professional development.
  • Conduct meaningful hourly rounding, bedside reporting, and use whiteboards to enhance communication.
  • Work with ventilated patients to promote early mobility.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
  • Respond to life-saving situations following nursing standards and protocols.
  • Monitor and adjust specialized equipment such as cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, and oxygen pumps.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant nursing experience, including at least 3 years in Critical Care Unit (CCU) - Coronary Care
  • CCU - Coronary Care experience within the last year
  • Level 1 Trauma experience
  • Experience with trauma patients
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
