Registered Nurse - Home Health

Location: Bluffton, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide, coordinate, and direct home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
• Supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
• Conduct home visits and periodic office meetings.
• Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
• Types of cases include Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
• Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and agency-required liability insurance.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM (some positions may have 4x10 shifts Friday-Monday).
• Patient visits may be in both care facilities and patients' homes.
• Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of recent Home Health experience within the last year
• Experience working with adult patients in a Home Health setting
• Proficient with OASIS documentation
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Additional Information

• Dress code: Scrubs.
• Productivity expectations: Approximately 25-30 weekly units.
• Mileage reimbursement at IRS standard rate; compensation is from patient home to patient home (commute to/from first and last patient is not billable).
• Local candidates accepted under the same terms as travelers.
• Potential for hire at the end of the contract based on performance.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid driver’s license and personal/auto insurance required.
• Background checks including 7-year history, sex offender search, and state-specific screenings as applicable.
• Fingerprinting may be required depending on state regulations.
• Education verification and work history verification required.
• Health documents required: Physical exam within 12 months, negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and COVID vaccination or declination.
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug test required.
• Completion of agency-specific compliance training, confidentiality agreements, HIPAA and privacy policies, and other facility-specific documents prior to start.
• Must review and sign various compliance, confidentiality, and policy documents annually or at the start of each assignment.

Travel Experience

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required, but recent specialty experience is mandatory.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with recent home health or hospice experience who are comfortable with travel within a 75-mile radius and working in a home health setting.
