Physical Therapist - Inpatient Rehab
Location: Crescent City, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Seeking a full-time Physical Therapist in a hospital setting with a focus on acute care, inpatient rehab, and outpatient rehab. The schedule is Friday through Tuesday with the ability to float between inpatient, acute rehab unit, and outpatient as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs to improve patient mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and correct disabling conditions from disease or injury.
- Gain patient and family cooperation through competent assessment, monitoring, care, and communication.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.
- Provide clinical supervision of assistants and aides; serve as clinical instructor for assigned students.
- Plan, prepare, and implement individualized physical treatment programs.
- Complete and document patient evaluations and tests per standards and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and update patient Plans of Care based on assessments and diagnoses.
- Coordinate patient care with other providers and support team members.
- Complete all required documentation related to therapy and charge capture.
- Participate in quality improvement processes and interdisciplinary projects.
- Maintain a clean, safe working environment and properly use and disinfect equipment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Retain certifications and complete mandated continuing education to meet accreditation and licensure requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in California
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Experience
- Specialty: Therapy/Rehabilitation
- Required years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume entry-level to experienced physical therapist based on licensure and graduate requirements.
- No prior travel experience explicitly required.
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check required within 6 months of start.
- Various federal and state background screenings including EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, FACIS Level 3, Sex Offender Search, OFAC Sanctions List, and others as applicable.
- Education verification and transcript/diploma verification required.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana due to California law).
- Physical exam within 1 year of start.
- Immunizations and health screenings required including:
- TB test or chest x-ray (annual renewal)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
- Varicella immunity or vaccination
- Seasonal flu vaccination during flu season (or approved declination)
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually.
- Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually.
Additional Requirements
- Must complete and sign facility-specific documents including job description acknowledgment, standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and others prior to start.
- Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps in employment longer than 30 days.
- Unit-specific skills checklist and competency exams as applicable.
Schedule
- Friday through Tuesday, flexible shifts as needed.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic hospital rehab environment with a variety of patient care settings including inpatient, acute rehab, and outpatient therapy.
