Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for Operating Room with experience in scrub and circulate roles. This position requires on-call availability but has no weekend requirement. Floating to other units is not allowed.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience
- Work setting experience required in General OR
- Preferred experience in Level I Trauma and Ambulatory settings
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Valid Pennsylvania RN license or compact license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- RTO (Return to Operating Room) certification required at time of submission
Additional certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM) but are not explicitly stated for this role.

Background and Compliance Requirements
- Comprehensive background checks covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 90 days of start
- Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Fingerprint Clearance within 90 days of start
- State-specific searches including Medicheck and PATCH within required timeframes
- Education verification for highest level of education
- Employment application with 7 years of complete work history and explanations for gaps over 90 days
- Minimum of 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 months of start
- Fit test for respirator use (if applicable)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as required
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or vaccination series
- Hepatitis B: positive antibody titer or completed vaccine series (declinations not accepted)
- Varicella: positive titer or vaccination series
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (observed drug screen required if dilute result)
- COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination with facility-specific form
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination (with masking policy adherence)
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for respirator use starting 04/07/2025
Competency and Testing Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam within 12 months of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam within 12 months of start (passing score 88% or higher)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for RNs
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement annually
- State license primary source verification prior to start and upon expiration
- NURSYS verification prior to start
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience
- Operating Room experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
