Description
Job Opportunity: Stepdown ICU Registered Nurse
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour day shifts (6:45 AM - 7:15 PM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: Not required
- Floating: May be required to float within scope to like units or sister facilities
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Additional Requirements
- First-time travelers: Accepted
- Local candidates: Considered on a case-by-case basis
- Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks including criminal, sex offender registry, and employment verifications required
- Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts may be used as placeholder)
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam updated annually
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B
- Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Drug screening (10-panel) within 90 days of start
- Respirator medical clearance required annually
- Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
- Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
Work Environment
- Acute care hospital setting
- 286 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- No parking cost for staff
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation
Notes
- Facility may accommodate block scheduling upon approval but not guaranteed
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Travelers must complete orientation modules prior to start; failure to complete may result in being sent home
- Radiation badge may be required for certain units (not applicable for this position unless specified)
This position is ideal for RNs with telemetry and stepdown ICU experience looking for a travel contract in South Carolina. Prior travel experience is not required.
