Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry

Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical Telemetry
- Experience Required: Minimum of 18 months recent permanent Med/Surg Telemetry experience prior to travel
- License Requirement: Must have a permanent Ohio RN license or a compact state license in hand
- Certifications Required:
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience
- Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Important Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks including FCRA compliant 7-year search, SSN trace, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including assessment of ability to safely perform job functions
- Fit mask (N95) fit testing within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Annual flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start
- References: Two professional references from employment within one year of start, from a manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director (co-worker references not accepted)
- Employment application including 3 years prior work history with at least 2 years clinical practice in acute care in a similar area
Orientation and Competency
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
- Baseline competency exams in medication administration and ECG interpretation required at orientation (passing scores: 90% medication, 80% ECG)
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required
- Ongoing annual skills checklist and competency verification
Additional Notes
- Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Candidates with a break in employment longer than 6 months may need to renew certifications and complete modules again
- Facility requires legal name on all documentation; name changes must be updated through proper channels
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
This position offers an opportunity to work in a medical-surgical telemetry unit on a travel contract basis in Ohio, requiring solid recent experience and current certifications. Compliance with health, safety, and credentialing requirements is mandatory.
