Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Somerville, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM (40 hours per week)
  • Workload: Approximately 30 cases per day
  • On-Call: May have on-call shifts on weekends; 7 shifts per month (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of acute care experience
  • First Time Travelers: Accepted
  • Locals: Accepted
  • Scrubs Provided

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Jersey
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of acute care experience, including acute care experience within the last year
  • First Assist experience with at least 1 year of recent practice
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background Check: Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
  • Drug Screening: Negative drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel minimum)
  • Health Documents:
    • Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
    • Immunizations and titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit Testing: On-site respirator fit test required prior to or on first day
  • Respiratory Medical Clearance: Required prior to start and must be updated annually
  • Competency Exams: Medication, Dysrhythmia/EKG, IV Therapy/Infusion, and Pharmacology competency exams required within 72 hours of signing and within 12 months of start
  • Pass/Fail Testing: EKG and medication exams with remediation process if needed

Additional Requirements

  • Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
  • Two professional references within the last 2 years (one managerial)
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Compliance with facility-specific policies including floating policy and annual education sign-off
  • Completion of any required orientation and safety training prior to start

  • Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
  • All required documentation must be submitted and approved before the offer is finalized.
  • Candidates must comply with all health and safety protocols, including mask and respirator use as applicable.
  • Candidates with name changes must provide proof and ensure all documentation reflects current legal name.

This position offers a structured schedule with a focus on acute care nursing in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be prepared for a high volume of cases and occasional weekend on-call duties.
