Medical Surgical Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12-hour shifts starting at 18:45
  • Unit Size: 23 beds
  • Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • First-time Travelers: Accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: May float within scope as needed
  • Block Scheduling: Available upon discussion with manager
  • Local Candidates: Accepted, no radius restrictions
  • License: Must have an active Illinois RN license or be in the application process with ETA
  • RTO Restrictions: Ideally no more than 5 days off
  • Special Skills:
    • PICC line management required
    • Experience starting IVs required
    • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
    • Experience with Cerner electronic charting preferred

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH certification
  • ACLS, PALS may be required based on unit/specialty (AHA or RQI acceptable)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience within the last year
  • PICC line management experience
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Requirements

  • Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and other state-specific searches within 30 days of start
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including labs within 7 days of contract signing
  • Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
  • Immunization or documented immunity for:
    • TB (2-step PPD, TSPOT, or Qgold)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines, positive titer, or declination)
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination)
  • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • Competency exam required for clinical candidates
  • Photo for badge required before start
  • References: 2 professional references required

Notes

  • Candidate must be able to start within the contract length and meet all licensing and credentialing requirements prior to start.
  • Floating may be required to meet facility needs.
  • Block scheduling requests can be accommodated with manager approval.
  • No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers accepted.
