Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU (Nights)

Job Summary

• Provide nursing care in a Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) that manages over 4,000 cardiology patients annually, including post-op open heart surgery patients (18-24 hours post-op).
• Care for patients undergoing procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, bi-ventricular pacemakers, congestive heart failure, and electrophysiology studies.
• Participate in clinical trials managed by the unit’s research department.
• Work in a unit recognized with a Silver level Beacon Award and designated as a Top 50 Heart Hospital in the U.S.
• Use clinical judgment to diagnose and treat patient responses to actual or potential health conditions.

Contract Length

• 8 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Michigan (verification through LARA and Nursys required).
• Minimum 1 year of ICU experience (floating experience does not count).
• EKG experience required.
• Must be willing to float to similar units (e.g., Neuro, CVICU, Trauma).
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application for RN specialties is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing ventilators.
• Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) and balloon pumps.

Important Policies

• Strict 3-strike attendance policy: termination after 3 absences or being more than 20 minutes late for scheduled shifts, with exceptions for documented communicable disease or hospitalization. Policy effective starting 6/1/2024.
• Full-time employees of the facility are not eligible for contract hire within six months of employment.
• Dress code: Navy blue scrubs.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Cerner.

• The hospital is a 202-bed regional facility serving a large geographic area with a broad range of specialties including cardiology, cancer, orthopedics, and neurosciences.
• Nonbillable initial hours and local traveler policies apply but are not relevant for candidate consideration.
