Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts of 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Weekly Hours: 36


Job Description

  • Work schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts per week.
  • May be required to float to other units as needed.
  • Estimated patient ratios not specified.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year.
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required.

Background and Screening Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific code 3701.881).
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring.
  • Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
  • High school diploma or GED verification (for certain candidates).
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, opiates, etc.).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and freedom from contagious disease.
  • Required immunizations and health documentation:
    • Tdap vaccine (adult dose after age 11/12)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or TB questionnaire)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer (medical exemptions require documentation)
    • Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31) with mask requirement if declined
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended.

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership (charge RN acceptable as second reference).
  • Employment application required, including education details for nursing candidates.
  • Skills checklist required.
  • Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual, dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies.
  • Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually.
  • NIH Stroke Certification may be required depending on unit assignment (check with recruiter).

Facility Specific Notes

  • Fingerprinting results must be completed and approved prior to start; new fingerprinting required if there is a break in service of 90+ days or results are older than 1 year.
  • Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending at start.
  • Parking permits available for agency staff (costs and options vary).
