Job Opportunity: Mammography Tech

Location: Oakland, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Schedule: Every other weekend and 1 Saturday per month (occasional Saturday shifts may alter days off)

Job Description

• Work schedule is 4/10s (four 10-hour days per week).
• Floating required: rotate between multiple breast imaging centers and may float to a mobile mammography van traveling throughout the Bay Area. Transportation to/from the van location is provided.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Mammography Technologist license in California
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Mammography Technologist, including experience within the last year
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification
• California State Mammography Licensure
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace, county searches, sex offender, education verification, and other federal/state screenings.
• Employment application must include a full 7 years of work history with no gaps.
• Employment verification for up to 7 years required; gaps over 30 days must be explained.
• Various facility-specific documents and attestations must be reviewed and signed prior to start.

Health and Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, cleared for work.
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start; must be renewed annually.
• Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years).
  • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – titers or vaccinations required.
  • Hepatitis B series or signed declination.
  • Varicella (chickenpox) – titers or vaccinations required.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Nov 1 – Apr 30) or signed declination.
• Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law).
• Fit test for approved masks within 1 year of start, renewed annually.

Competency and Skills

• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be renewed annually.
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam may be required for some telemetry units.

Additional Notes

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
• Candidate must be willing to float between multiple locations including a mobile mammography van.
• Transportation to mobile van provided; candidate picked up and dropped off at a designated location.
