Description
Respiratory Therapist Travel Assignment
Location: Council Bluffs, Iowa
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Job Overview
- Provide respiratory therapy services in a travel assignment role at a well-equipped facility.
- Patient population includes adults, pediatrics, and neonates.
- Work settings include inpatient and outpatient areas such as ER, floors, pediatrics, Labor & Delivery, nursery, ICU, Sleep Lab, OR, and PACU.
- Typical daily workload: 30-40 treatments and checks.
- Assist with intubation (not independently).
- Draw arterial blood gases (ABGs) and occasionally perform EKGs.
- No floating to sister campuses.
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend.
- Holiday coverage: rotate with permanent staff.
- Typically no call; if on call, response time is 30 minutes.
- Department orientation lasts 2 days.
- Dress code: wine burgundy scrubs.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential via NBRC is mandatory.
- Must have at least 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
- ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required.
- PALS and NRP certifications preferred but not required.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential will NOT be accepted.
Equipment Experience
- Familiarity with Drager ventilators, A40, LTV, Avea in nursery, V-60, and vapotherms.
Additional Information
- Facility has 24/7 hospitalist or intensivist coverage.
- Flexible scheduling to fill shift gaps; start date ASAP.
- Emphasis on self-care and coping mechanisms discussed during interview.
- Local candidates within 50 miles may have reduced travel reimbursement.
