Description
MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week (Friday-Sunday), 12 hours each (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Holidays: Required to work if they fall on scheduled shifts
- On-call: Not required
- Facility Type: Teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma designation
- Total Staffed Beds: 865
- Charting System: Epic
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience within the last year
- ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required
- BLS certification required (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS: Required for all clinical candidates (AHA or ARC accepted)
- ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT: Required for MRI Techs
- Radiation Badge: NOT required for MRI Techs
- Fit Mask: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
- Other certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC, etc., are not required for this position
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start; if positive, additional documentation required
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
- Immunizations: Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B required
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- COVID-19 vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- Annual fit testing for respirator masks required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (August 1 - March 31) or medical/religious exemption accepted (no declinations)
Documentation & Compliance
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
- Complete employment application/resume with all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Background check: Must include 7 years of work/living history with multiple specific searches (SSN trace, criminal, sex offender registry, etc.)
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if verification pending
- Color blindness test required prior to start
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology tests required as applicable
- Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
- Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed prior to orientation
- All required documents (I-9, Driver’s License/State ID, Social Security Card) must be submitted and verified
Additional Notes
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; travelers should consider this before accepting or extending contracts
- Parking: Paid parking required nights and weekends with a one-time $20 parking pass fee
- Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
