Description

Registered Nurse - Med/Surg Telemetry (Travel/Contract)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Med/Surg Telemetry RN with potential to float to similar patient population units including ED.
  • Rotating shifts: 3x12-hour shifts (Day: 7:00am–7:30pm / Night: 7:00pm–7:30am). Shift rotation may be required to meet operational needs.
  • Must work at least every other holiday.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year.
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • NIHSS certification.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).

Required Assessments & Testing

  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam during orientation; passing scores required.
  • Baseline Competency Exam (Medication & ECG) required for all bedside RNs except OR RNs.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required (must carry on assignment).
  • Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) required prior to start and updated annually.
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract; facility will also conduct fingerprinting onsite.
  • Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprint attestation required annually.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform essential job functions.
  • Fit mask (N95) test within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (declinations not accepted).
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive.
  • Required immunizations or titers with boosters if negative/equivocal for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination accepted)
  • Annual flu vaccination required (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions must be approved).
  • Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted).
  • Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start.

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome).
  • SafeMedicate prep materials provided for orientation exam.
  • Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background).

References & Employment History

  • Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must pass all required assessments and maintain certifications current throughout the assignment.
  • Facility reserves the right to rotate shifts as needed.
  • Candidates with gaps longer than 6 months since last assignment at this facility may need to retake orientation modules and assessments.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or a compact state, comfortable with rotating 12-hour shifts and meeting comprehensive health and compliance requirements.
