Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU (Critical Care/CCU) - Nights

Location: West Burlington, Iowa
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (8 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM


Job Summary

  • Provide nursing care to adult patients in ICU/CCU with cardiac, telemetry, stroke, vascular intervention, and hemodynamic monitoring needs.
  • Support unit preparation for Epic EMR go-live; Cerner and Epic experience required.
  • Must self-study telemetry strips before assignment; a Basic Dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week and must be passed to continue working in the ICU.
  • Deliver care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Estimated 36-hour workweek with possible overtime.
  • May be placed on call occasionally during low census; must be able to respond and arrive onsite within one hour if called.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Iowa
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Experience with Cerner and Epic EMR systems

Required Onboarding and Compliance

  • Professional license verification (primary source within 30 days of start).
  • Background check including SS trace and county search for last 7 years.
  • Adult and Child Abuse clearance (state requirement).
  • Education verification.
  • Drug screen (9-panel, within 30 days of start).
  • Health requirements including:
    • COVID-19 vaccine (declination accepted)
    • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
    • Hepatitis B (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
    • Influenza vaccine (optional, seasonal)
    • TB test (negative test within past year or appropriate documentation if history of positive)
    • Fit test for approved respirators (completed prior to start)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; booster or declination accepted)
    • Tdap (valid within 10 years; declination accepted)
    • Health statement from physician within last 12 months
    • Color vision test
  • Completion of skills checklist within 12 months.
  • Driver’s license or state ID current and valid during assignment.
  • Completion of various agency-specific attestations and acknowledgments (e.g., I-9, contract employee data sheet, OSHA questionnaire).
  • Two professional references required (one must be from a supervisor).
  • Resume or professional profile submission required.
