Job Opportunity: Weekend Option RN Emergency Department Evenings

Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 3:00 PM – 3:30 AM, every other weekend, including holidays

Job Description

• Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department
• Weekend evening shifts with a schedule of 3 PM to 3:30 AM every other weekend, including holidays

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Maryland
• Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with ED experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Onboarding and Compliance Requirements

Health and Safety

• Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years)
• Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
• Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
• Fit Test for respiratory protection, updated annually
• Documentation of vaccinations and immunity:

  • MMR: Two vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
  • Varicella: Two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
  • Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
  • Influenza vaccine (optional; mask required if declined during flu season)
• Tuberculosis screening:

  • 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes
  • If positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
• Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
• 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually

Professional Requirements

• Resume/Profile submission required
• Two professional references required prior to first assignment
• Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days of assignment start; updated annually
• EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
• Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
• Employment verification for past 7 years; updated annually
• Completion of onboarding modules and attestations prior to clearance, including:

  • Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite)
  • Pre-hire modules (Nova StatStrip)
  • Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)
• Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters)
• Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and each extension

• Unit Specific Checklist (optional for onboarding, uploaded by unit leader within a week)
• Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment)
• Legal name change documentation (if applicable)

Summary

This is a weekend evening RN position in the Emergency Department requiring current licensure, specific certifications (BLS, ACLS), and compliance with a comprehensive set of onboarding, health, and professional verification requirements. The assignment is for approximately 13 weeks with shifts from 3 PM to 3:30 AM every other weekend including holidays. Prior travel experience is not required.
