Job Opportunity: Weekend Option RN Emergency Department Evenings
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 3:00 PM – 3:30 AM, every other weekend, including holidays
Job Description
- Registered Nurse (RN) in the Emergency Department
- Weekend evening shifts with a schedule of 3 PM to 3:30 AM every other weekend, including holidays
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with ED experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
Health and Safety
- Ascension Color Vision test (completed prior to start, updated every 3 years)
- Ascension Core Competencies (HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA, etc.) with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- Ascension EKG Exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- Fit Test for respiratory protection, updated annually
- Documentation of vaccinations and immunity:
- MMR: Two vaccines or positive titer (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella: Two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history (no declinations accepted)
- Tdap: Valid within 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine (optional; mask required if declined during flu season)
- Tuberculosis screening:
- 2-step PPD or IGRA within required timeframes
- If positive, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
- Health Statement or physical exam prior to first assignment, updated annually
- 12 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
Professional Requirements
- Resume/Profile submission required
- Two professional references required prior to first assignment
- Criminal background check including Social Security Trace, OIG Search, National Sex Offender Registry, and others within 30 days of assignment start; updated annually
- EPLS (Excluded Parties List System) check within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days of start; rerun if break in service > 90 days
- Employment verification for past 7 years; updated annually
- Completion of onboarding modules and attestations prior to clearance, including:
- Nursing Contract Worker Onboarding (onsite)
- Pre-hire modules (Nova StatStrip)
- Education Attestation (6 hours pre-hire training)
- Badge photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no filters)
- Confirmation of assignment documentation upon initial assignment and each extension
Optional
- Unit Specific Checklist (optional for onboarding, uploaded by unit leader within a week)
- Hiring Manager Evaluation (post-assignment)
- Legal name change documentation (if applicable)
Summary
This is a weekend evening RN position in the Emergency Department requiring current licensure, specific certifications (BLS, ACLS), and compliance with a comprehensive set of onboarding, health, and professional verification requirements. The assignment is for approximately 13 weeks with shifts from 3 PM to 3:30 AM every other weekend including holidays. Prior travel experience is not required.
