ICU Nights (RN ICU) - Indiana, Evansville
Job Details
- Specialty: RN ICU
- Shift: Night (18:45 - 07:15)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
- Patient Population: Medical, Neuro, Cardiac, GI, Renal; includes Sepsis, Trauma, Surgery; excludes fresh open heart surgery patients
- Unit Size: 24 beds
- Patient Ratio: 1:1 to 1:3
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Completion of specialty and pharmacology competency exams with minimum 80% passing score (max 2 attempts), updated every 3 years
- Completion of core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, NPSG, OSHA topics with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- Annual NIH certification (Group A yearly, Groups B-F every 2 years)
- Completion of EKG exam with minimum 80% passing score, updated every 3 years
- Health and immunization requirements including:
- MMR (two vaccines or positive titer; no declinations accepted)
- Varicella (two vaccines, serological evidence, or verified history; no declinations accepted)
- Tdap (valid within 10 years; no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B vaccination series completion or signed declination
- Influenza vaccine recommended during flu season (exemptions accepted with mask requirement)
- TB screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA within specified timeframes; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required
- Fit test for respiratory protection, updated annually
- Drug screening: 12-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Statement of good health or completed physical exam prior to assignment, updated annually
- Professional verifications:
- Resume/profile submission
- Two professional references prior to first assignment
- Criminal background check including SSN trace, OIG search, national sex offender registry, and others within 30 days prior to start, updated annually
- Employment verification for past 7 years, updated annually
- Education verification relevant to clinical work within 90 days prior to start
- Driver’s license or state ID current and matching address requirements
Additional Notes
- Optional unit-specific checklist may be required by unit leader within one week of start
- Badge photo required: forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations
- Confirmation of assignment documentation required upon initial assignment and each extension
- Skills checklist to be completed within one year of start and updated annually for specialty
This position is suited for experienced ICU nurses comfortable with complex patient populations and night shifts, requiring comprehensive credentialing and compliance with detailed onboarding protocols.
