Description
NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Night shift coverage only
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), including experience within the last year
- Experience working with neonate patients
- Current certifications issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID) required and must be carried on assignment
- Background checks including:
- FCRA-compliant 7-year search (SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender registry, OFAC, FACIS Level 3)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months of start, updated annually (code 4723.09 for nursing)
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions
- Fit mask (N95) fit test within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per protocol
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B vaccination/titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
- Annual flu vaccination (no declinations accepted) or approved medical/religious exemption
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant tests not accepted)
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
Orientation and Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test)
- Medication and ECG competency exams during orientation with required passing scores
- SafeMedicate preparation materials provided before orientation exam
- Candidates with less than 6 months gap since last assignment at this or related facility may be exempt from some orientation testing and modules
References and Work History
- Two professional references required from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry required documentation and maintain compliance with all health and safety requirements throughout the assignment
- Fingerprinting must be completed both through the agency and at the facility prior to start
- Candidates with latex allergies must notify to ensure appropriate supplies are available
- Candidates with facial hair failing fit mask testing must shave or submit approved exemption documentation
This position is ideal for experienced NICU RNs seeking a night shift travel contract in Ohio with a reputable healthcare facility.
