Description

Registered Nurse (Cardiac Cath)

Location: Bloomington, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 (4 x 9-hour shifts)


Job Summary

  • Work in a Cardiac Cath Lab with 2 labs and 6 pre/post procedure beds.
  • Average daily cases: 3 cardiac catheterizations and 2 angiograms.
  • Use Epic EMR and Philips monitoring equipment.
  • Charge nurse present on shift who may take patient assignments.
  • Cath Lab Technicians available.
  • Hospital scrubs provided.
  • Orientation typically lasts 1 week (4 shifts).
  • Rarely required to float; no patient assignments when floating.
  • On-call requirements: 2-3 weeknights per week, every 3rd weekend, and 2 holidays per year.

Patient Types & Procedures

  • STEMI, stroke, drain placement, line placement.
  • All heart catheterizations.
  • Peripheral angiograms.
  • IVC placement.
  • Temporary pacemaker insertion.

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Required Experience & Skills

  • Previous cardiac cath lab experience required.
  • Ability to read telemetry strips and titrate drips.
  • Knowledge of most IV medications.
  • Preferred experience with peripheral angiograms, interventional radiology (IR), and neuro interventions.

Additional Notes

  • Must have an active Illinois nursing license or have initiated the application process.
  • Drug-free workplace: negative drug screen required for all panels.
  • Local rate adjustments apply for clinicians living within 50 miles.
  • Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours.
  • Call-off policy allows 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty.
