Nursing Manager – Medical Oncology
Location: Rock Springs, Wyoming
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary
Lead and oversee the Medical Oncology department, ensuring delivery of person-centered, compassionate care. Manage clinical, operational, and quality initiatives to achieve excellent patient outcomes while fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Operations & Patient Care
- Provide daily leadership and oversight of Medical Oncology operations to ensure safe, timely, and compassionate care.
- Coordinate oncology care team activities to ensure safe and accurate delivery of medical oncology and chemotherapy services.
- Maintain quality assurance for treatment processes to uphold patient safety and care excellence.
Patient Safety & Quality
- Integrate Team STEPPS communication strategies to enhance clarity and reduce errors within the department and interdisciplinary teams.
- Lead and participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, with regular review of patient safety metrics.
- Oversee complex workflows for chemotherapy, oral oncolytics, and high-risk infusions, including prior authorizations, scheduling, education, and communication.
- Optimize chemotherapy regimens in the electronic medical record to ensure safe, evidence-based, and clearly communicated treatment plans.
Partnerships & Program Development
- Support clinical trial coordination to expand access to innovative treatments and ensure accurate reporting.
- Engage in community outreach, survivorship programming, and patient education to reduce barriers and support patients and families.
- Represent the department in hospital committees and oncology collaboratives to strengthen coordinated cancer care.
Collaboration & Team Leadership
- Foster a supportive, collaborative, and emotionally healthy team environment, including recruitment, retention, orientation, and evaluation of staff.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director to align care, quality initiatives, and operational priorities.
- Strengthen integration with Radiation Oncology to ensure coordinated, compassionate care across the cancer continuum.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Lead daily clinical operations, managing staffing, patient flow, resource utilization, and workflows to deliver evidence-based care.
- Supervise, coach, and evaluate staff, providing feedback, supporting skill development, and addressing performance issues professionally.
- Implement clinical goals, practice standards, and quality improvement initiatives aligned with strategic plans.
- Ensure compliance with clinical regulatory and accreditation standards, including infection control, medication safety, and documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Wyoming.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.

- Maintain patient confidentiality and demonstrate accountability and responsiveness.
