MRI Tech Travel/Contract Position
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Evenings 11:00 PM - 11:30 PM, Tuesday through Thursday)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet recognized
- Charting System: Cerner
- Scrub Color: Any solid color
- Parking: Permit required, no cost
Required Qualifications
- MRI Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- MRI Technologist experience within the last year
- CT Technologist experience
- Experience with Cerner
Schedule & Work Conditions
- No floating outside scope of practice
- Open to discussing block schedule requests with manager
- Local candidates accepted without radius restrictions
- RTO (Return to Office) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days
- Candidate must be in Illinois 3 business days prior to start for fingerprinting compliance
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid/current US Driver’s License or US ID
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, including:
- SSN Trace, Counties, States, National Criminal, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days prior to start
- Education verification (degree verification required)
- Primary source verification of state license and certifications
- Competency exam required for all clinical candidates
- Badge photo (color, mid-shoulders up, plain background) due before start
- Signed Code of Conduct within 7 days of contract signing
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by appropriate healthcare provider, confirming good health and ability to perform job functions
- Fit mask test required (3M1860 small/regular, 1870, or 1870+ masks acceptable)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- TB questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations or documentation for:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or signed declination)
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes Amphetamines, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, Methadone, Methaqualone, Opiates, Phencyclidine, Propoxyphene)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by November 30 annually
- Illinois-specific background checks including:
- Department of Corrections Inmate Search
- Most Wanted Search
- State Police Murderer and Violent Offender Against Youth Registry
- Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry fingerprinting required for clinical candidates without an Illinois state license; fingerprints must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start
Additional Notes
- Candidate may be called off up to 36 hours during the 13-week assignment without pay for those hours
- On-call shifts count as called-off shifts if used in lieu of cancellation
- Facility accommodates latex allergies
This position is ideal for MRI technologists with strong multi-system MRI skills, Cerner experience, and the ability to work evenings and weekends in a Level I trauma, Magnet-recognized acute care hospital setting.
