Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Allentown, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 48


Job Description

  • Respiratory Therapist position requiring experience in adult critical care and emergency department settings.
  • Schedule options include 3x12 or 4x12 shifts.
  • No on-call duties.
  • Use of specialized respiratory equipment including Hamilton G5, PB 980, Respironics V60, Optiflow, Lumis tx, Cough Assist, Vest, and IPV.
  • Scrub color: Dark Grey.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Pennsylvania.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • At least 1 year of recent experience working with adult patients in Adult Critical Care and Emergency Department settings.
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS and BLS must be AHA or ARC approved (military certifications not accepted).
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for RNs and LVNs (not applicable here but noted for clinical staff).
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam required for all RN candidates (not applicable here).
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required.
  • State License verification and NURSYS verification prior to start.
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (not specifically required for this role).

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Comprehensive background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire.
  • Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprint clearance required within 90 days of start.
  • Education verification for highest level completed.
  • State-specific clearances including Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search, PATCH Search, Medicheck Search.
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history and explanations for gaps over 90 days.
  • Minimum of 2 professional references from employment within 12 months of start.

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physician statement (physical exam) within 2 months of start.
  • Fit test for respirator use required prior to start.
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years.
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray as per guidelines.
  • Required immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
  • Negative drug screen (10 panel or 9 panel without THC) within 60 days of start.
  • COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination with facility-specific form.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required.
  • Respirator medical clearance annually for respirator use.

Additional Notes

  • Return to Office (RTO) requests must be approved by the facility.
  • Background and health documentation must be uploaded and verified prior to start.
  • Photo ID for badge required for new candidates starting after 3/31/2025.
  • Facility-specific affidavits and declination forms may be required.
  • Candidate must comply with all facility and state-specific credentialing and compliance processes.
