Job Opportunity: RN Stepdown

Location: Nashville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

Unit Overview

• Fast-paced, high acuity Step Down unit with 14 beds
• Patient population includes critically ill individuals with diagnoses such as:

  • Chest pain
  • Post kidney transplant
  • Acute renal failure
  • Congestive heart failure
  • GI bleed
  • Pneumonia
  • Myocardial infarction
  • Pulmonary disease (with or without mechanical ventilation)
  • Thoracic and other surgical procedures with comorbidities
  • Drug and/or alcohol withdrawal
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 3:1

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
• Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Additional Onboarding Requirements

• Completion of unit-specific core competencies including HIPAA, Joint Commission, OSHA topics, and specialty skills with a minimum passing score of 80% (two attempts allowed)
• Passing score of at least 80% on the Ascension EKG exam (updated every 3 years)
• Completion of Cerner electronic health record test and training checklist
• Completion of onboarding education attestation and contract worker onboarding modules
• Submission of a professional resume/profile and at least two professional references
• Criminal background check including social security trace, OIG search, and national sex offender registry (updated annually)
• Employment and education verifications covering the past seven years
• Ascension profile photo (forward-facing headshot with white or blue background, no alterations)
