Description
Registered Nurse - Telemetry
Location: Hickory, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care on a telemetry unit specializing in cardiac patients.
- Patient population includes young adult to elderly adults with generalized cardiac conditions.
- Unit includes 24 beds with a patient ratio of 4:1.
- May occasionally float to Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU), Neurological Progressive Care Unit (NPCU), and/or Surgical units.
Work Schedule
- Shift: Primarily day and afternoon shifts.
- Weekly guaranteed hours: 36.
- Weekend hours: Every other weekend.
- No call requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Telemetry experience with a minimum of 2 years, including experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Unit and Patient Care Details
- Telemetry unit with cardiac specialty.
- Common diagnoses and treatments include chest pain, atrial fibrillation (A-fib), congestive heart failure (CHF), pre- and post-care for cardiac catheterizations (groin and radial), and video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).
- Equipment used: Life Paks, Zoll monitors, Masimo devices.
- Electronic Health Record system: Cerner.
Additional Information
- Orientation is provided twice monthly.
- The unit is family-oriented.
- Dress code: Any color scrubs allowed; no unacceptable attire specified.
